2012 Cannondale Synapse 5 Compact

Cannondale built the Synapse 5 to provide the same wonderful efficiency and speed of its renowned racing bikes with ample comfort too. Its light and stiff Cannondale aluminum frame gets all your pedal power to the road for excellent acceleration, climbing and cornering and their carbon fork soaks up road vibrations so you enjoy a velvety-smooth ride. You'll pedal comfortably up and down the hills, too, thanks to the 20-speed FSA/Shimano 105 drivetrain with compact gearing that lets you spin up the climbs. Plus, you get powerful Tektro brakes for total control on the descents. You'll also ride further with less effort than ever on the speedy Shimano wheels wrapped with grippy Schwalbe tires. And you'll love the supportive Cannondale seat.

    Comments:

Just picked this bike up a few days ago and have so far, put about 60 miles on it. The bike is comfort oriented but at the same time, is fast and very responsive. I've tried the Specialized Secteur, Specialized Allez and this Syanapse. Nothing came close to the great combination that Cannondale has come up with. The other great thing about his bike is the unpainted, brushed aluminum frame. It's clear coated but doesn't have any paint to worry about chips and scratches. (wish my Cannondale mountainbike had the same finish). This is a nice bike and the staff at [...] are top knotch. Everyone there knows bikes and fitting and are always willing to steer you in the right direction.Great bike, great shop.

    Comments:

Bought this bike to replace my comfort hybrid which weighed 33 pounds. The Synapse is just over 20 pounds. The Synapse has a real smooth and quiet ride. It takes a little getting used to riding in lower position (I'm over 50) but it's worth it for the speed and handiling. I'm doing about 40 - 50 miles a week and looking forward to my first 50 mile Everything works great and Dan's Bike shop was helpful with the purchase and the 30 day check up.

2500 mles on my 2010 model. Pleasure to ride. Upgraded to Mavic Askium wheels after breaking a spoke. Frame was built in USA. Might not be Lances bike but works for me.

I love this bike!. Shifts great climbs like crazy. geared for all day enjoyable riding. The aluminum frame is a much smoother and less rigid ride than my older cannondale cadd3 and a more comfortable riding position. Oh sure.. you can spend several hundred dollars and get lighter but for the money this is a great buy.

            Comments:

I bought this bike 1/18/09 and did my first 25 miles with it that afternoon. The bike performed as advertised. When compared to my last bike, Trek 1.5, there was noticably less road noise and vibration. [...] If you are looking for a new bike, or service on an existing bike, give Velo Sport a shot. [...]
